At Cross Chinese Baptist Church, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant, Christ-centered community where the Bible's teachings guide our lives. Established in January 2015 and affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, we focus on worship, discipleship, and community outreach, emphasizing the importance of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Welcome to Cross Chinese Baptist Church - A Christ-Centered Community
Statement of Faith
Cross Church
IntroductionThis church was registered with the U.S. government in January 2015, joined the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) the same month, and received its tax-exempt status in July 2015.
Our prayer: May the Lord add more saved souls to our church.
Articles of Faith
1. The Bible: We believe that the entire Bible — 39 books of the Old Testament and 27 books of the New Testament, totaling 66 books — is the Word of God, established in heaven forever. Its content is inerrant and infallible, and never changes (2 Timothy 3:16). It is the supreme standard for the faith and life of Christians.
2. The Triune God: The God we believe in is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit — the Triune God (Matthew 28:19). God the Father, the first Person, prepared salvation; God the Son, the second Person, accomplished salvation; God the Holy Spirit, the third Person, applies salvation. The Triune God is the God of creation, redemption, and judgment.
3. Jesus Christ: The Jesus Christ we confess is the eternal Christ and the historical Jesus (John 1:1, 1:14). Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. As the Son of God, He was eternally begotten of the Father. As the Son of Man, approximately two thousand years ago, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, the Word became flesh, and God became man and came into the world. He proclaimed the Gospel of the Kingdom for three and a half years, was crucified for the sins of humanity, rose from the dead on the third day, conquered sin, Satan, and death, and ascended to the throne at the right hand of the Father, becoming the Lord and Savior of all who trust in Him.
4. The Holy Spirit: We believe that the Father and the Son gave the Holy Spirit to glorify Jesus Christ — throughout all ages, to this day and into the future — to cause people to be born again, to repent of their sins, and to trust in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit indwells, guides, and illuminates believers, empowering them to pray, study Scripture, and serve the Lord and the church, continually growing in Christ and being conformed to His likeness (Galatians 5:25).
5. The Church: The church is the gathering place of the children of the Triune God — chosen by the Father, redeemed by the blood of the Son, and regenerated by the Holy Spirit (1 Peter 1:2). All members should live lives of mutual love on earth as it is in heaven (John 13:34). Therefore, in accordance with Scripture, our church operates under an elder-congregation polity; our vision is missions; and our core value is Christian education (see our church constitution for details).
6. The Five Solas: We believe that the members of the Protestant church (as distinct from the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches) are the spiritual heirs of the Reformation carried out by Martin Luther, John Calvin, and other reformers. Our church seeks to return to the right path and uphold the confessions of the Reformation fathers: Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura), Christ Alone (Solus Christus), Grace Alone (Sola Gratia), Faith Alone (Sola Fide), and to God Alone be the Glory (Soli Deo Gloria).
7. The Return of Christ: The Book of Revelation teaches us that Christ will come again to judge the world. Those who believe in Jesus Christ — the living will be transformed in body and live forever; the dead will rise to eternal life and reign with the Lord Jesus forever. Those who do not believe will be resurrected to face judgment and suffer the punishment of eternal death.
